Our Mission
Our mission at U Access is simple: to assist our clients in performing their daily activities with a sense of autonomy, security, and confidence. We offer comprehensive home modification consultations to fascilitate our clients receiving the home modifications necessary to achieve this goal. During each home modification consultation, your specialist will work with you to expertly assess how we can maximize your quality of life by modifying the home that you love to meet your needs. After your consultation, we collaborate with our trusted contractors to schedule a time that works for you to complete the home modification work indicated as areas of need during our assessment, as well as schedule a follow up appointment to assess if your goals have been met after the work has been completed.
In addition, we also offer mobile outpatient occupational therapy services should we assess a need during our consultation. As part of our mission, we aim to address the whole person and their home, in which e often also identify an opportunity for our client to increase their independence in their activities of daily living through further occupational therapy services. These may focus on fall prevention, strengthening, balance or endurance, depending on your goals.
Each home modification consultation is unique to the individual and the home in which they reside. We prefer to complete our consulation with you in the home, however should the need arise we are also available for a virtual consultation, check-in, or occupational therapy session as well.
Our Story
Hi there! My name is Josephine and I have the unique opportunity to offer home modification consultations through the expert lens of an Occupational Therapist certified as both an Aging in Place Specialist and an Assistive Technology Practitioner. My education and professional specializations allow me to provide you with a home modification consultation with the most up-to-date knowledge and expertise available in the field.
My passion for home modification consultations has ignited a concrete need for a call for action throughout my career as an Occupational Therapist. I have unfortunately served far too many individuals who live in an environment that is not set up to optimize their safety or success as they age in place. Unfortunately, I have repeatedly witnessed this gap lead to hospitalizations due to acquired injury, weakness or illnesses that could have been prevented had the home been adequately set up to meet the individuals’ changing needs throughout their lifetime.
I started U Access to change this narrative. Who better to promote independence and safety at home than a stubborn Occupational Therapist with the mindset that anything is possible with the right set of tools, ambition, and creativity? Through the building blocks of my education, specializations, and experience, I’m able to utilize this knowledge to assess how the areas of opportunity in your home can be modified to prioritize your changing needs. My goal is to optimize your independence, health, and overall quality of life within the home that you love, no matter what your needs are. So let’s get to work!
